The Challenge
Modern computed tomography (CT) scanners feature a wide range of predefined examination protocols for different body regions and applications. Each of these protocols contains hundreds of parameters that influence the examination sequence, device control, and image reconstruction.
The particular challenge lies in the large number of parameters and the complex interdependencies between them. Changes to individual values can affect numerous other settings and must remain consistent at all times and within defined limits.
Our Solution
For many years, ASTRUM IT has been supporting the development of a high-performance software environment for managing and maintaining examination reports for various generations of computed tomography (CT) scanners.
In this process, the technical specifications provided by medical technology experts are translated into technical solutions and continuously expanded to include new features. The developed suite of tools enables efficient management of reports as well as automated quality assurance.
Key components of the solution include:
- Automatic verification of parameters against defined validity ranges
- Reporting of incorrect or inconsistent settings
- Automatic identification of dependencies between parameters through code analysis
- Graph-based logic for consistent updating of linked values
- Use of code generators for efficient creation and maintenance of the data model based on a database
Added Value for the Customer
- High consistency and quality of examination protocols
- Reduction in manual verification and maintenance efforts
- Ensuring compliance with defined parameter limits
- Efficient implementation of new features and device generations
- Long-term maintainable and scalable software architecture
Conclusion: This long-standing collaboration has resulted in a powerful and future-proof software solution that supports the management of complex examination protocols for computed tomography (CT) scanners and provides a reliable foundation for precise diagnostic processes.
