Protecting your privacy

Protecting your privacy is our top priority. We therefore comply with statutory regulations on data protection.

We want you to know exactly which data we collect on our websites, how and when we store and how we use them. Our websites are created and managed in Germany. Therefore, the statutory regulations for processing personal data of the Federal Republic of Germany apply.

What happens when you use our websites?

We are of course interested in how we can further develop our websites according to your preferences. To do so, we would like to know which pages and information you find interesting and which appeal less to you. Your visit of our website will generally not leave any information that would allow us to draw any direct conclusions to individual persons. By default the following data are transmitted over an http connection:

  • the visitor's IP address
  • the visitor's operating system and browser
  • the data and time of the visit
  • the user's country of origin
  • the visitor source (referring website)

To improve the value of our websites, we may collect the following additional information:

  • Visited pages of our websites

The collected data are stored securely based on our security policy – only few authorized persons in our company have access to this data. The data are always evaluated promptly and completely anonymized. After being analysed, the data are completely deleted.

To better understand the interests of those visiting our websites and to make them user-friendly, we use the open-source analytics platform Matomo (formerly known as Piwik), a service by InnoCraft Ltd., 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand, NZBN 6106769.

Since Matomo is hosted via our server, you can rest assured that these data never leave our area of responsibility. It is therefore a sound alternative to such tools as Google Analytics, which include the external processing of visitor statistics. Matomo is explicitly recommended by the Independent Regional Center for Data Protection of Schleswig-Holstein (Landeszentrum für Datenschutz Schleswig-Holstein).

Protecting your data is important to us, which is why we solely make use of technically required cookies, and we have configured Matomo in such a way that your IP address is recorded in a shortened form only. That means that your personal user data we process is anonymized. Any identification of individual users is not possible. Further information regarding Matomo’s terms of use and data protection regulations is available at https://matomo.org/privacy/

If you do not want your visits to our websites tracked, you can activate the “Do not track” option in your browser; in that case, Matomo will not collect your data. This click will allow you to deactivate your visitor statistics. To achieve this, an opt-out cookie deactivating tracking will be set in your browser.

Are personal data collected?

Personal data are information that is clearly attributable to an individual person. If you visit our website without completing forms, we will only become aware of the information described further above. This information is generally not personal unless you have a static IP address that is registered in your name.

We only collect personal data if you contact us actively, e.g. by e-mail or requesting information through our web forms. Moreover, personal data are only stored if you provide them e.g. by registering, participating in a survey or to execute a contract.

Any personal data generated in this way will only be collected, processed and used according to the respectively valid regulations on the protection of personal data and only for the purpose of processing a contract and to safeguard our own justified business interests with respect to consulting and supporting our customers and the needs-based product design.
