BACKGROUND:

TOP 100 is a prestigious German innovation competition. Since 1993, compamedia has been presenting the Top 100 Award to recognize the innovative strength and exceptional innovation achievements of small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany. Participating companies are divided into three size categories based on the number of employees. In each category, up to 100 companies can be honored with the Top 100 Innovator Seal. In principle, any medium-sized company can participate, whether it is a manufacturing firm or a service provider.

Project partners include the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research and the German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW), as well as manager magazin as a media partner.

The official award ceremony, with Christian Wulff serving as mentor, will take place on June 26 in Heidelberg. We look forward to it!

The TOP 100 Innovators ranking is based on over 100 evaluation criteria, which are divided into five main categories. These criteria systematically assess whether innovation within the company is carried out in a structured manner and is not merely the result of chance. However, the competition looks at more than just new product developments. It focuses on strategic innovation leadership, the ability to establish an innovation-friendly culture, external orientation (customer needs, partnerships, ecosystem work), and process competence (idea management, scalability).

The 5 categories are:

  • Innovation-Promoting Top Management: Executives actively promote ideas, set goals, and allocate resources.
  • Innovation Climate: An open culture that rewards creativity and a willingness to take risks.
  • Innovative Processes and Organization: Structured methods for idea generation, selection, and implementation.
  • External Orientation & Open Innovation: External partnerships, market monitoring, and technology transfer.
  • Innovation Success: Concrete results such as revenue shares, patents, or market successes.

A Top 100 Innovator is a medium-sized company that is ranked among Germany’s most innovative firms. The “TOP 100” competition annually recognizes approximately 250–300 companies that innovate systematically and consistently—not merely through isolated successes. Participants are evaluated by a scientific team led by Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke of the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Key features:

Focus: Innovation management rather than individual products; evaluated across 5 categories (including top management and open innovation).

Status: The seal is valid for 1 year.

ASTRUM IT hat das TOP 100 Innovatoren-Siegel 2026 aufgrund herausragender Leistungen in den Kategorien „Außenorientierung & Open Innovation“ und „Innovationsförderndes Top-Management“ erhalten. Die Auszeichnung ist das Ergebnis des großen Engagements unserer Kolleginnen und Kollegen, die bereit sind Neues zu denken, neugierig neue Wege zu gehen und Verantwortung für die Umsetzung zu übernehmen.

Gesamtbild: Das Siegel bestätigt wiederholbare Innovationsprozesse, nicht Einzelfälle, passend zu unserer DNA in Software-Engineering, Hosting, Cybersecurity, unserer VISIT-Plattform, den Forschungsprojekten sowie digitaler Transformation seit 1992 .
